Wayne McCarthy BAppSc(Optom)
Wayne graduated as an optometrist from Queensland University Technology in Brisbane in 1992. He was a store manager and staff optometrist for 12 years for a large national chain in a variety of locations including Esperance, Rockingham, Morley and Hay Street. He has also worked in some of Perth’s most exclusive high street optical practices.
He consults for the Association for the Blind in their Vision Management Centre helping Low Vision clients make the most of the vision they have remaining.
He is a careful refractionist and a proactive contact lens fitter. Both his experience of working in an Eye Hospital in Hyderabad, India and country WA practice without the comforts of a nearby ophthalmologist means his eye disease diagnostic skills are advanced. Wayne’s patient empathetic manner is often commented on by clients.
Barry Telfer
Barry commenced his optical career as a cadet optical dispenser whilst concurrently studying for a diploma in optical dispensing as well as an apprentice optical mechanic, graduating with both qualifications in 1981.
Since then, Barry has held roles including store manager for national corporate chains in the metropolitan area such as Subiaco, Midland, Morley, Booragoon, as well as the Hay Street Mall in the CBD. He was also involved in a number of eye safety programmes.
His work has also taken him to country Western Australia and as far away as the UK where he did domiciliary work in Greater London and the Home Counties. During this time, Barry has also been involved in training and development for the optical industry both as the regional trainer for a national group and as a lecturer for a number of years for the optical dispensing course at TAFE. He has also served on the state council for the dispensing association.
His passion for customer service and desire to provide great product for his customers is clearly evident when you visit Angelo Street Optical.
Amy
Amy joined us in 2009 after returning from India where she volunteered teaching English. Amy works fulltime and has recently completed her Certificate IV in Optical Dispensing.
Amy has a keen eye for detail and enjoys finding solutions in eyewear that bring comfort and enjoyment in your wearing. Amy is incredibly dedicated and hard working. She brings flair and originality to the frame selection process. Amy is enthusiastic about sharing new frame designs and is very knowledgeable about the latest lens technology to ensure your glasses fit naturally into your lifestyle.
Amy is a valued member of our team and she will always greet you with a welcoming smile.
Amy's frame choices are Variation Design 5627 in blue, and Variation Design 5624 in gunmetal and pink.
Natasha
Natasha made the switch from the corporate optical world to our independent optical business in 2008, and has been a valuable part of the Angelo Street Optical team since then. Natasha brings a wonderful work ethic and fantastic practical experience having worked as a store manager in Joondalup, Innaloo and Thornlie.
Natasha is very friendly and approachable and she will confidently guide you through the frame selection process. Her caring and patient nature will make this an enjoyable experience. Natasha's love of art allows her to embrace the creative side of frame selection, and you can be sure that with Natasha's advice you will find a frame that not only suits you, but also has the 'Wow-factor"!
Natasha works part time. She is a loving wife and is kept very busy looking after her two beautiful boys.
Natasha's frame choice alternates between Oliver Peoples Wacks in coco and Variation Design 5636 in turquoise.
Tanita
Since joining us in 2009, Tanita has embraced the joy of optics. She makes the frame selection process fun and lively, and is passionate about helping you choose a modern and fashionable frame. Tanita will always show you the latest styling in frames so you can be confident your choice is keeping up with today's fashion trends.
Tanita knows her brands and can offer you plenty of information about the materials coulours and where they were styled.
Tanita is a dedicated 3rd year student studying a Bachelor of Podiatric Medicine at UWA who brings her professional and dedicated manner to welcome you to our store.
Tanita is currently wearing Face a Face Bliss 2 in purple and white, and Face a Face Sagan in faded purple and blue.
