Wayne graduated as an optometrist from Queensland University Technology in Brisbane in 1992.  He completed his Ophthalmic Medicines Prescribing training in 2013.  He was a store manager and staff optometrist for 12 years for a large national chain in a variety of locations including Esperance, Rockingham, Morley and Hay Street.  He has also worked in some of Perth's most exclusive high street optical practices. 

He consulted for the Association for the Blind/Visability for 7 years helping Low Vision clients make the most of the vision they have remaining. 

He is a careful refractionist and a proactive contact lens fitter.  His experiences of Therapeutics higher education, and working in an Eye Hospital in Hyderabad, India and country WA practice without the comforts of a nearby ophthalmologist means his eye disease diagnostic skills are advanced.  Wayne has a special interest in early Glaucoma detection and management given his strong family history and his own well managed Ocular Hypertension.  Wayne's patient empathetic manner is often commented on by clients.

Barry Telfer

Barry commenced his optical career as a cadet optical dispenser whilst concurrently studying for a diploma in optical dispensing as well as an apprentice optical mechanic, graduating with both qualifications in 1981.

Since then, Barry has held roles including store manager for national corporate chains in the metropolitan area such as Subiaco, Midland, Morley, Booragoon, as well as the Hay Street Mall in the CBD. He was also involved in a number of eye safety programmes.

His work has also taken him to country Western Australia and as far away as the UK where he did domiciliary work in Greater London and the Home Counties.  During this time, Barry has also been involved in training and development for the optical industry both as the regional trainer for a national group and as a lecturer for a number of years for the optical dispensing course at TAFE.  He has served on the state council for the dispensing association, and is a member of the International Opticians Association. 

His passion for customer service and desire to provide great product for his customers is clearly evident when you visit Angelo Street Optical.

Jen

Jen brings a world of knowledge to our store. She is a trained orthoptist (Orthoptists are university-trained, allied health care practitioners who specialize in disorders of eye movements and diagnostic procedures related to disorders of the eye and visual system) and also brings over 20 years of optical fashion experience to us. These twenty years in the industry means that she is able to easily help you navigate the range of frames and lenses to suit your style and needs. 

You will always feel welcomed with Jen's kind and caring nature, and there is always a lovely smile to greet you as she welcomes you to our store. 

Jen's love of travel with her family has been curtailed by COVID however she can't wait to get back to Japan. She has 2 children and works with us part time. 



Valerie


Valerie was invited to join our team after noticing her caring and attentive nature while we were out shopping. She owns a poledancing studio and works with us part-time.  Val enjoys helping people and finds she can do this in both her occupations.
